Mission Statement

Our desire is to be the corporate body of Jesus Christ made up of His redeemed people, filled with His Holy Spirit.
Looking for people who are in need, that Christ might through us, love them and lift them.
Going through this process, they may have such an experience with God that they will repent of their sin and turn to God in Christ Jesus, and trust Him as their personal Lord and Savior.
Continuing from this, that they may develop Christian fellowship and growth in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Pastor: Jeff Burns

I was born and raised in Winamac, Indiana. My wife, Kathleen, and I met at Indiana State University and were married January 3, 2009. We have three children. When I’m not at the church I enjoy working in my wood shop, playing sports, hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with my family. My wife is a hospice chaplain for Heart to Heart Hospice in Terre Haute, Indiana. She holds a degree in Music Education from Indiana State University and Masters in Divinity from George W. Truett Theological Seminary.  She served in Thailand as a missionary for two years. She is also a skilled musician and worship leader.  Above all, she is a wonderful wife and mother.  Our daughter loves animals, going to the park, playing with her toys, eating cookies and helping her mama in the kitchen. Our middle son loves to climb, play outside and not listen to his parents. Our youngest son loves to eat and sleep. J--

My favorite scripture is John 3:16-18,

"For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God."
Church History:

Our church began in the spring of 1986 with twenty-seven original organizers meeting with Allen Haynes of the Southern Baptist Convention.  That summer, the name Faith Southern Baptist was chosen, land was purchased from Richard and Jean Royer, and Allen Haynes served as interim pastor.  That same summer, a building plan was approved, deacons were appointed, a ground-breaking ceremony was held, and a pastor search committee was formed.  The first service in the church basement was held on Jan. 11, 1987, with the sanctuary being completed one year later.  Our first pastor, Bob Atwell, was called in April, 1987.  Needless to say, it was a busy year!

Early organizers/members met in homes, Clay City Town Hall, McCormick's Creek State Park, the former First Brethren Church, and Howesville Feed Store.

Much of our church was built with loving hands of members, many who are not with us today.  More land was donated by the Royers, and an addition was built with the help of Carpenters for Christ.  Our church has been blessed with generous giving and mortgage burnings were celebrated for both the sanctuary and new addition.

Since that first year, we have been served by former pastors and their wives; Bob and Sylvia Atwell, Ray and Joanna Deeter, David and Amy Clapp, interim pastor Roger Bear, and currently Jeff and Kathy Burns.

Throughout the years, our church has strived to serve the Lord with support of missions and programs such as the BCM at Indiana State University, VBS, annual coat and shoe drives, Good Samaritan Shoebox Project, volunteering at the food pantry, the Deacon's Fund, and more.

Through Pastor Jeff's vision, a new playground has been added, remodeling of Sunday School rooms has been completed, and a mission partnership with Wisconsin Baptist is in the works.

May our church continue to grow in loving service to our members, community, and the lost
